We are tremendously honored to have Guillaume d’Angerville of Domaine Marquis d’Angerville, one of Burgundy’s finest estates. His Volnay wines come from a collection of the greatest Premier Cru vineyards in the commune, which happen to also be among the most sought-after bottles in Burgundy.

Guillaume is one of today’s star producers of Burgundy. He took the reigns of the family domaine in 1983 when his father, Jacques, passed away. After many years in banking, Guillaume immediately rose to the challenging expectations of a fine-wine audience who had come to know the accomplishments of his talented father. Guillaume has exceeded these expectations and now runs a domaine that produces some of the most sought after wines in France. The D’Angerville wines are refined and precise – a perfect example of Volnay at its finest.

To showcase these stunning wines, we have chosen the grand ballroom at the Hotel Boulderado to host a seminar featuring a tour of Volnay Premier Cru. We will have a selection of top sommeliers joining Guillaume on the panel with the intention of developing an interesting and informative discussion. This will be a rare opportunity to taste these wines and listen to a seminar hosted by Guillaume. Seats are limited.

4th Annual Boulder Burgundy Festival

Boulder Wine Merchant is proud to announce the Fourth Annual Boulder Burgundy Festival, to be held November 21-23, 2014.

The gathering is one of the leading Burgundy events in the U.S. today and it attracts top Burgundy producers and leading wine professionals from across the country.

“As a retailer of fine wines,” says Master of Wine and Boulder Wine Merchant owner Brett Zimmerman, “it is impossible not to love the spectacular wines of Burgundy. The greatest tragedy of loving these wines is not tasting the great ones often enough. Selfishly, we thought hosting a Burgundy Festival would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate the wines of the region by tasting and sharing them with some of our friends, customers, restaurateurs, suppliers, and producers. During this three-day extravaganza we will be able to drink some of the rarest wines of Burgundy due largely in part to the amazing generosity of our supplier partners.”

The three-day celebration of Burgundy wines includes tastings and seminars with winemakers and top U.S. wine directors, as well as wine dinners hosted by Boulder’s best restaurants.

Past speakers have included: Richard Betts, MS, owner of My Essential Wines and Saint Glinglin Wines; Shayn Bjornholm MS, Examination Director for the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas; Robert Bohr, Grand Cru Selections and owner of Charlie Bird Restaurant in New York City; Carlton McCoy, MS, Wine Director at the Little Nell in Aspen; Raj Parr, Executive Wine Buyer for the Michael Mina Restaurants and owner of Sandhi and Maison L’Orée; Eric Railsback, Caveau in Santa Barbara as well as Lieu Dit and Vallin Wines; Grant Reynolds, Sommelier at Charlie Bird in New York, formerly of Frasca Food and Wine and named a 2013 Wine & Spirits Best New Sommelier; Sabato Sagaria, MS, Director of Food and Beverage at the Little Nell in Aspen; and Bobby Stuckey, MS, owner of Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, CO and Scarpetta Wines.

Kitchen Upstairs
$50 all inclusive

The wines of Chablis are among sommeliers favorites. The richness of Chardonnay cut with the bracing acidity and delicate, but firm mineral notes make these wines some of Burgundy’s finest food-pairing wines. It is not often that people get the opportunity to taste the finest producers of the appellation. Most of the time the wines of Raveneau, Dauvissat, and Pico can only be acquired from select sources and available only in bottles. We are fortunate to have a few great contacts in the business that have helped us source some special offerings for this tasting. We will be showing three vintages of Raveneau Montée de Tonnerre 1er cru: 2001, 2004, and 2005.

Additionally, we should have a few offerings from Dauvissat, Thomas Pico, Louis Michel and many more. This will be the value event of the weekend. Join us for this special tour of Chablis wines while enjoying the delicious savory brunch cuisine of The Kitchen Upstairs. This will be a cocktail reception format and limited based on the size of the space.
